CAKES ARE ONLY PART OF THE STORY

“I’m excited by any food that’s prepared by someone who’s proud of what they’re doing, who puts a personal imprint on food.”

CUSTOM WEDDING CAKES

Too gorgeous to eat, too delicious not to!

Dream Cakes is Oregons most celebrated wedding cake companies. Since 1994 we’ve been specializing in custom buttercream designs, creating delicious show stoppers, true works of art, and guaranteeing to make your guests "wow!" We pride ourselves on quality over quantity. Dream Cakes is not a factory production bakery. Every ounce of our time, love & care go into making every individual wedding cake to ensure that we create the wedding cake of your dreams. Our goal is to destroy the stigma that wedding cake is bad. We want you & your guests to have the best wedding cake ever!

  • We believe what's on the outside is just as important as the inside. Our cakes are made fresh days before your event & never frozen. We guide you on flavor combos that will satisfy *most* everyone. Because everything here is made from scratch, using only the best of the best ingredients, you'll notice a distinct difference from your very first bite.

  • All of my cakes have a clean, elegant, & beautiful aesthetic. You'll quickly find my design approach really centers around you. I believe in the "you do you" philosophy in both life & cake. Listen, you don't have to have the cake your grandma (or your cake baker) wants you to have! So, let's chat options. I feed off your energy, personality, & ideas. I love getting to know you. I'll ask questions to discover more about who you are & what you're into. Then using inspiration from your invites, dress, Pinterest boards, & photos, I'll design & create a cake that personally & beautifully represents you on your day.

  • Dream Cakes has been one of Portland’s most celebrated custom wedding cake companies since 1994. Back then, our small bakery was owned & operated solely by Judy Reese for 20 years, she retired in 2014. Upon replacing Judy, I trained with her for over a year, learning every recipe and technique Judy had to offer. I envision that Dream Cakes will serve the Pacific Northwest for many generations and weddings to come. That said, I'm not only an experienced baker but a passionate one. I know cake makes people happy, I love passing that sweet joy to you by treating you with respect & kindness & making the cake portion of your wedding plans a piece of cake (pun 100% intended).

  • While other cake designers see your cake as another transaction, I see it as an opportunity to give you & your guests a unique experience & elated joy with every bite. This is why I take a select number of wedding clients per year & put every ounce of my talent, time, & love into serving you well. I'll promptly respond to your questions, address your concerns, & ensure every important detail is communicated & taken care of. You can expect reliable & consistent service from our first meeting until your cake is delivered (on time), staged (flawlessly), & enjoyed by you & your guests (fully).

  • Odds are you have a ton of questions, like, "How much should I spend on my cake?" "How far in advance should I order?" & "What exactly is the difference between buttercream and fondant?" It's all good. I'll answer your questions, clear up any misconceptions, & ease any of your concerns. I'll guide & advise you with an honest, personable, & accommodating approach. If there's one thing I know for sure, it's cake. Aside from designing & baking, there's nothing I love more than helping you figure out what you want & need most for your big day.

“Every client that tries her cakes is hooked. I am always astounded at the level of professionalism and attention that goes into their cakes. It’s such a joy to see how loved her work is.”

OH HEY, I’M JOHANNAH

Long before I arrived on the Dream Cakes scene in 2014, I learned my way around the kitchen with my great-grandma. At four years old, she taught me to bake and, unbeknownst to me at the time, began laying the groundwork for my future.

Originally from Reno, NV. I graduated from Oregon Culinary Institute in 2008, proceeded to hone my craft in several restaurants around Portland and began my love for making cakes. I bought Dream Cakes in 2014 and started leaving my imprint on food, perfecting the balance between art and flavor.

WHEN IT COMES TO CAKE, I BELIEVE WHAT'S ON THE INSIDE IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS WHAT'S ON THE OUTSIDE.

That said, I'm not only an experienced baker but a passionate one. Because I know cake makes people happy. And I love passing on that sweet joy to you. Fact: If my cakes make even one person happy, then they’re not just cakes. They’re the byproduct of trying to make the world a better place.
