Dream Cakes has been one of Portland’s most celebrated wedding cake companies since 1994. Previously owned & operated by Judy Reese who retired in 2014. Judy trained her replacement, Johannah, for over a year, teaching her all of her recipes & techniques. From owner to owner, Dream Cakes plans on serving the local Portland area for many generations & weddings to come. Dream Cakes is not a factory production bakery. Every ounce of our time, love & care go into making every individual wedding cake to ensure that we create the wedding cake of your dreams. Our goal is to destroy the stigma that wedding cake is bad. We want you & your guests to have the best wedding cake ever!
Johannah is originally from Reno, Nevada, where she baked her first batch of cookies at age four with her Grandma, from then on she was hooked on life in the kitchen. She moved to Portland in 2008, graduated twice from the Oregon Culinary Institute, with degrees in baking & pastry as well as the culinary program. Since then, Jo has worked as the lead production baker at Black Sheep Bakery, helped open Bushel & Peck Bakeshop, served as the pastry and line cook at Natural Selection, worked at St. Cupcake, QUIN, Ken's Artisan Pizza & GEM gluten free bakery, all while wholesaling her vegan cakes to local vegan bars. You can still find her vegan cakes at Bye & Bye, Sweet Here After, Vita, & Victoria Bar.
